07 Apr Added support for First Nations Australians with Disabilities
A new program has been created within the NDIS by the NDIA to provide better support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders with disabilities living in rural and metropolitan areas. This new program will help clients to access the NDIS and to use their plans.
The way the program works is by having new workers called Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officers (ALDO’s) work at a local level to help build a better understanding of the NDIS. These ALDO’s are generally members of the communities they work in, understand the cultures and often speak the local languages.
